Unfortunately my mother and legal step-father have recently divorced. Although this man has raised me since I was 2 years old, he has never adopted me, so he is not legally my father. Because of this, I do not have health insurance, while I have medication and birth control that I need but cannot afford. I am moving to Alaska, so COBRA is not available. We put it in neutral and pushed it down the street so most of the water ran out. We used towels to get out what we could that night. I didn't try to crank it, and I unhooked the battery cables. When I tried to crank it about 18 hours later it would not start. My question is, can I sue the city for the flood damage to my truck since their sewer drainage system was responsible for the localized flooding on my street? Can they be held responsible for this? Or will I just have to settle with what the insurance company will give me for the truck since it is undoubtedly totaled? I have already paid about $19500 on the truck, but I still owe about $8600.
